29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): The employer did not ensure that one or more methods of machine guarding was provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: a) Production Area (Main Working Station Area)- The Cincinnati Lathe & Tool Co. lathe was not equipped with an enclosure guard for the rotating chuck and a chip guard to contain flying chips and/or sparks. In accordance with 29CFR 1903.19(c), abatement certification is required for this violation (using CERTIFICATION OF CORRECTIVE ACTION WORKSHEET), and in addition, documentation that abatement is complete must be included with your certification.
